Someone gave me the book Consecration to St. Joseph, The Wonders of Our Spiritual Father (Fr. Donald H. Calloway, MIC). I began the 33-day retreat hoping it would touch my life like the Consecration to Mother Mary did 10 years ago. Did it ever!
When I made the Consecration to Mother Mary, she became present to me. I don’t know how to describe it other than saying she is by my side 24-7. The same thing happened when I completed the 33 Days to St. Joseph. He gives me the confidence and trust that it doesn’t all depend on me.
Since my consecration to St. Joseph, I have found a deep sense of confidence in his guidance. Just as he led Mother Mary and Jesus to safety in Bethlehem and Egypt, I believe he will lead us and our parish/school.
Consider the dangers he faced on that 200-mile journey: Robbers, wild animals, and the uncertainty of depending on others for hospitality. Yet, he was chosen by God to protect the spouse of the Holy Spirit and God’s own Son. He is our father and guardian in life, too, offering us a sense of security in the face of life’s uncertainties.
Many saints and popes believe that all the gifts and power of intercession the individual saints are given are combined in St. Joseph. He is a human father who worthily stands in place of God our Father in guidance, protection, and doing our Heavenly Father’s will.
I invite you to consider and pray about making the Consecration to St. Joseph. He is ready to lead and guide you in raising your family in a way that is worthy of God in this increasingly godless world. Join me and others in this journey with St. Joseph, and let’s walk this path together as a community.
St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus, pray for us.
St. Joseph, the spouse of Mother Mary and our foster father, pray for us.
