A few of our Ascribed joined Fr. Chris Fuse for a pilgrimage to Italy. We visited the Institute of Charity communities established by our Founder, Blessed Antonio Rosmini. Fr. Chris Fuse, the English Provincial, provided the teaching and translation we needed during our visits.
One stop that made one of the biggest impressions on us was the home of Blessed Rosmini in Rovereto. It’s hard to describe the emotions we felt while hearing our past Fr. General Don Vito explain the history of each room, including the room where Blessed Rosmini was born and the library containing 14000 books. Father Vito received our first class of Ascribed into the Order, 45 in number, in 2018.
Another memorable moment that touched our hearts was visiting the cell in Mount Calvario, Domodossola, where our Holy Founder wrote the Constitutions of the Institute of Charity. It was a chilly winter during that Season of Lent, and the rundown house had none of the essentials, not even heat.
However, his sacrifice warmed our hearts as our vocation to follow Blessed Rosmini was strengthened in seeking our salvation and living the Gospel more fully.
Finally, meeting Fr. General and the Community at Porta Latina was a joy. We were given a tour and had an opportunity to meet all the students, novices, and brethren from different countries. It was a surprise and joy for me to meet, once again, my former rector at our house of studies, DerrrysWood, England, Fr. Anthony Meredith. He was and is a profound influence on my vocation as a priest and Rosminian. We didn’t miss a beat.
Many thanks to our benefactors who made this pilgrimage possible. God bless you all to be disciples of the Lord Jesus.
